Blood, Alto, were honored on their sixtieth wedding anniversary with an open house Saturday, October 24 at the Blood ranch.Ernest Blood and Nora Hightower were married October 23. 1921 in Alto.Hosting the event were Alice Lindsey of Denton, Texas and Jo Nell Brooks of Partaies, daughters of the couple.They were assisted by Sue Lewis, granddaughter of the couple, who presided at the guestbook She traveled from Normal. Illinois to be at their grandparents’ celebration.Serving were Teresa Coe of Ruidoso, Yvonne Lanelli of Alto and Verna Adams of Capitan.Also assisting with courtesies were Marjorie Hightower of Alto, Terri Lindsey, granddaughter-in-law of the couple, from Fort Worth, Texas and Bill Adams of Capstan.President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan sent a note of congratulations.In addition to their daughters and granddaughter, two grandsons, Jim Lindsey of Fort Worth and Russel Brooks of Port ales attended. One of the couple's five great-grandchildren, Robert Lindsey, attended with his parents.Special guests included Ala Jones from Tularosa who attended school in Alto with Mrs. Blood and Hope Akers of Hatch who attended school with Mr. Blood in Richland. Texas.Several of Saturday’s guests had also attended the wedding in 1921. Craft and Georgia Allison.Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hightower and their family and Amelita Johnstone attended from El Paso, Texas.The serving table was decorated with white and pink baby roses and baby’s breath. The cake was an interlocking wedding ring design also decorated with white and pink roses. It featured the names Ernest and Nora and the years 1921 and 1981. P lanking the cake was a silver coffee service and a silver punch service.Mrs Blood was presented with a corsage of white and pink baby roses and Mr. Blood wore a pink baby rose boutonniere. Mrs. Lindsey and Mrs. Brooks wore smaller baby rose corsages.
