Shot Hole Through His HatLeonard Tames, who has been employed for some time in the H. J. Lankhorst meat market, came near ending his earthly career one day last week. He went to the slaughter house to butcher a beef. The animal was placed iiv the' killing pen just outside the slaughter house and from a point of vantage Mr. -Tames took a couple of shots at the animal with a high powered rifle but failed to strike a vital spot. The animal suddenly bolt-* ed from the killing pen through a door into the slaughter house and in hishaste to follow the animal Tamesstarted to climb over the fence when his rifle was accidentally discharged and the bullet tore a hole through his hat brim within less than an inch of his head. A perforated hat was all the damage that resulted but it was a mighty close calL
