in double ring ceremony: JUNEAU — The Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, Juneau, was the setting for the Oct. 22, 1983 wedding uniting Sandra Lynn Cress-ley and John Laney.Parents of the couple are Mr. and. Mrs. Merle Cressley, Punxsutawney R.D 1, and Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Gre-gori, Cherry Tree RD 2, and the late ' Franklin Laney.' Officaiting at the double ring cere-. mony was the Rev. Joseph Q. Pearce, uncle of the bride. Music was provided by organist James Michael, uncle of the bride, and soloist Lois Pearce, the bride’s aunt.Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar'by her father the bride wore a white organza gown with Chantilly lace that featured a Queen Anne neckline, split lace Bishop sleeves and a peplum back that flowed into an attached chapel train, edged in Chantilly lace.For her headpiece she chose a white full wreath of silk organza flowers with satin ribbon streamers and a two-tier veil of silk illusion. She carried a cascade of apricot and white sweetheart roses, daisies, stephanotis, ivy and baby's breath.Serving as the matron of honor was Velma Cook, sister of the bride, and the maid of honor was Elaine Neal. Bridesmaids were Janey Godo, cousin of the bride; Georgia Riddle, Janet Laney, sister of the groom, and Vickie Cressley, sister-in-law of the bride. Tammy Davis, niece of the groom, served as flower girl.As his best man the groom chose his brother Steve Laney. Performing ushers’ duties were Sherwin Farmery, uncle of the bride; Doug Davis,-brother-in-law of the groom; Randy Stiles, cousin of the groom; Brian Pierce, cousin of the groom, and Randy Cressley, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Matthew Pearce, cousin of the bride.Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Big Run War Memorial;The bride is a 1977 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a 19B1 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Currently she is employed as a substitute teacher in. several area school districts.The groom graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1977 and is presently employed as an oiler for Benjamin Coal Company, LaJose,The couple is residing in Punxsutawney.(Photo by Gigliotti)MR.
