Parrish-Bornkessel marriage solemnizedMiss Cheryl Parrish and Robert M. Bornkessel were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at 4 p.m. May 26 in the First Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Loren Hickerson officiated in the candlelight nuptials before an altar decorated with baskets of white daisies garlands of greenery and spiral candelabra.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Parrish of 1911 McKinney, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bornkessel ofMission.Mrs. Jimmy Downing served as organist, accompanying Bill Beahm, vocalist.Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a gown of voile and Venise lace fashioned with a basque, sailor collar, bishop sleeves and a high waistline accented by a blue ribbon. A tiara of matching lace held her short veil, and she carried a nosegay of yellow sweetheart roses, daisies and gypsophila.Miss Cynthia Parrish attended her sister as maid ofhonor, and Mrs. Rick Smith of Arlington, Tex., was matron of honor. Misses Nancy Culp of Kansas City and Patricia Penner of Mission acted as bridesmaids. They wore matching light blue gingham floor-length dresses trimmed with white styled with empire waistlines and puffed sleeves, and they carried white wicker baskets of blue and white daisies. Richard Bornkessel served his brother as best man, while Ralph Brooks of Lawrence and Lyle Lawson of Scandia acted as groomsmen. Robert Parrish, brother of the bride, and Mike Neilson of Independence lighted tapers and seated the guests assisted by Gregg Vanderveer of Shaunee, Okla.For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Parrish chose a floor-length pink dress styled with an inserted basque waistline, sweetheart neckline and long fitted sleeves. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a floor-length yellow dress featuring a htted bodice with a high banded neckline and long sleeves of muted yellow and white puckered sheer fabric.Pink and yellow corsages complimented their gowns.A reception at the Elk’s Club was held following the wedding with Mary Essmiller of Great Bend assisting with the guest book. Other assistants were Tony Mufic of Kansas City, Margaret Green of Hays, Wendy Elliott of Thayer and Catherine Burt of Great Bend.The bride is a graduate of Great Bend high school and the University of Kansas where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Mrs. Born' kessel is a graduate of Shawnee Mission North high school and KU. He was a member of Delta Tau Daita fraternity.For the honeymoon trip to the Ozarks, Mrs. Bornkessel wore a powder blue suit adorned by a corsage of blue and white daisies and yellow sweetheart roses.The newlyweds will reside in Lawrence where Mr. Bornkessel will be practice leaching and his wife will be leaching.Mrs. Robert M.
