Pleasing to many Fairbanksans during the week was the announce-; 4ent of the engagement of Miss Theo Johnson and Mr. Axel J. Run-; ning, both of Fairbanks. The date ;►for the wedding has not been set, i bat it probably will take place in; 3une, as the abcut-to-bes express a • liking for the term, “June Bugs.” The j news of the approaching wedding has }een hailed with delight, for nc happier match could be credited to little sly Dan Cupid, were he to work over- ] time at his nefarious pastime.Miss Johnson came to Fairbanks! last summer from her home in Seat- i tie. After a few months spent on fee creeks, in and about Chatanika,' .she came to town, and has been oc- j . ^upied here in the Tanana bakery since that time. She is well liked; among the younger set and possesses a. host of friends.Mr- Running is an oldtimer in the-iNorth and dates his residence back; to the days of Chilcoot, He was among the horde that stampeded to the • Klondike. After considerable prospecting and mining in the Daw- j *on camp, he came to Fairbanks, I reaching here in 1908. Here he has been engaged in various enterprises of a , business nature. At present he is ‘‘the man behind” at Peter Lor-lt;entzents picture shows. It is he who looks after the mechanical part of the moving picture performances. His friends in the Tanana are legion.IBe is a member of Fairbanks igloo-, l^o. 4, Pioneers of Alaska, and also, of the Fairbanks aerie of Eagles.It is understood that the wedding will be a quiet affair, only a few intimate friends to be present.After the wedding, the couple will settle down in a cozy cabin owned by the prospective bridegroom, located ■on Fifth and Lacey.
