Baker-Sparks Wedding VowsExchanged May 19Carol Baker Rusty SparksHonored With Parties/, iI*»Miss Carol Ann Baker became the bnde of Oswald C “Rusty” Sparks in a lovely ceremony in Greene Chapel in Conwav on May19, 1979 The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert V Baker of Marshall and Mr Sparks is the son of Mr and Mrs Oswald Sparks of Mananna The Rev Raymond Howard of Batesville officiated at the seven o’clock service Bill Durham of Conway provided the nuptial music and Miss Dede Gist of Little Rock sang “You Light Cp My Life, “Sunrise, Sunset and the “Lord’s Prayer.Mike and Robert Baker, Jr , brothers of the bride, served as candlelighters Vows were exchanged in a sanctuary with greenery entwining white pew candles The prayer profile bench was flanked with brass seven branched candelabra and spiral candelabra all entwined with greenery A heart candelabra and the three branched unity candleabra added to the bndal setti As the mothers enter each placed a lighted candle in the Unity candleabra with the center candle being lighted later in the ceremony by the coupleGiven in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in a traditional gown of organza with re-embroiderecf lace A fitted bodice with a scalloped “V neckline, elaborate bishop sleeves and vertical bands of lace on the front of the A-line skirt were features ofthe gown The full chapel train ended in a self fabric ruffle accented with widebands of re-embroideredlace Her chapel length veil of illusion was edged withmatching lace The bride carried a keepsake cascade bouquetfashioned from silk flowers White roses and carnations were interspersed with baby’s breath and accented with white lace and satin streamers With her bouquet, she carried two long stemmed red rose buds that she presented toher mother during the service and to Mrs Sparks at the close of the service She wore an add-a pearl necklace with matchin earrings that were a gi from the groom Mrs. Duane Cotton of Conway was her sister'shonor attendant She wore an aqua qiana floor lengthSown that featured a raped neckline and was gatnered at the shoulder The blouson waistline was emphasized by the straightskirt of the gown In herhair were yellow flowers held in place by a comb Misses Charlotte Har ness, Janie Ratchford and Renee Wallis all of Marshall were bridesmaids Their floor length gowns were identical to that of the matron-of-h^nor The flower girl, Miss Angela Cotton of Conway, niece of the bride, also worean aqua qiana dress as she dropped yellow rose petals from a small basket Mr Sparks served his son as best man Groomsmenwere Chuck Mvers and*Jimmy Sparks, brother of the groom. both ofKennyRobertDuaneRobertMarianna, and Howard of Cabot Irvin of Sheridan.Cotton of Conway,Baker, Jr. of Little Rock and Mike Baker of Marshall were Ushers For her daughter's wedding Mrs Baker wore a floor length teal blue polyester double knit dress with an orchid corsage pinned at her shoulder Her dress was fashioned with butterfly sleeves, a round neckline and was gathered at the waist Mrs Sparks chose a floor length gown of pastel pink silesta polyester A “V neckline and full sleeves accented the body huggi bodice Side ties extend to the wrapped waist in obi stvle with a full draped skirtRECEPTION Hendrix Ballroom provided the setting for a reception that was held immediately following the ceremony The serving table was beautifully laid w ith a w hfte satin cloth and overlaid with lace that was gathered around the edges with net rosettes The table was centered with a lovely arrangement of white sweetpeas. carnations and aqua tinted daisies interspersed with baby’s breath Mrs Raymond Ridge. Jrof Mananna served thedelicious three tierred cake that was frosted in the traditional white The edges of the bottom layer were adorned with sweetpeas and carnations and two white doves and two silver wedding topped the cake Mrs Robert Baker, Jr of Little Rock presided at the punch bowl and Miss Tammy Ratchford of Marshall assisted in serving Nuts and mints were also included in the delicious refreshmentsMiss Ratchford alsopresided at the guest book at a white lace covered round table that held the white plummed pen Miss Amy Baker and Angela Cotton distnbuted rice bags that were made of white net.and held aquaringstinted rice and tied with vellow ribbonsFor travel the bride wore a pale yellow pant suit with a flowered print overblouse with white accessories She had an orchid corsage pinned at her shoulder and yellow flowers secured with a comb in her hairAfter a wedding trip to the Hawaiian Islands, where they will tour Waikiki on Oahu, Kona, Maui and Kauai Islands the couple will be at home at 75 Hill Street in Mananna for the summer They will move to Fayetteville in September for the groom to resume his studies at University of Arkansas Law SchoolOUT OF TOWN GUESTSMarianna guests who attended the wedding included Mr and Mrs Ted Zeiger. Sr. Miss Stacie Hodge, Mr and Mrs C. T Sparks, Mr and Mrs Raymond Ridge, Jr., and Dierdre, Donald Joe Sparks, Mr and Mrs Chuck Myers. Russ Sparks. Jimmy Sparks, Britt Zeiger and Mr and Mrs Oswald SparksREHEARSAL DINNERMr and Mrs Oswald Sparks hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bowen’s Restaurant in the Ramada Inn in Conway at 8:30 p m on May 18 The bride-elect wore a turquoise qiana dress withbutterflv sleeves and gathered at the waistline She had a corsage of whitecarnations and wore white accessories During the dinner Miss Baker presented her attendants with pearl earrings and Mr Sparks gave key chains to the men in the wedding party He gave his father, the best man. a money clip Special guests were the Rev and Mrs Raymond Howard of Batesville, Mr and Mrs Raymond Ridge. Jr and Dierdre and Miss Stacie Hodge all of Mananna The tables were laid with white cloths and centered with arrangements of aqua tinted daisies, white carnations and babv's breathPreceding the seafoodbuffet, pink champagne was served and the father of the groom gave appropriate toasts to the bnae groomTwo lovely partieshonored Miss Carol Baker and “Rusty Sparksproceeding their weddingon May 19SHOWER The Searcy CountyLibrary provided thesetting for a miscellaneous shower on Saturday. May 5 Hostesses were Miss Janie Ratchford. Miss Tammy Ratchford, Miss Renee Wallis, and Miss Charlotte Harness all of Marshall Guests called between the hours of two and four For the occasion Miss Baker w ore a peasant-style dress of peach quiana, gathered at the waist, with white accessories. A gift corsage of white carnations tied with small silver wedding bells was pinned at her shoulder The serving table was beautifully centered with an arrangement of pink carnations. Orange sher-bert punch was served with butter cake with coconut icing and cinnamon bundt cake, nuts and mintsDANCE An informal dance party honored the young couple on Saturday night. May 12. The delightful party was acombined bachelor and bachelorette party and was in honor of Miss Baker's graduation from U.C.A and Mr Spark s birthday Guests were members ofma Kappa and their dates and members of his fraternity. Phi Sigma Epsilon, and their dates, members of the wedding party and other friends Approximately 75 attended the festivities that were held in the recreation room at the lovely country estate of Attorney and Mrs Guy Jones, Jr of Conway Live music was provided by the “Wooly Hollow Nut Goat Band who played progressive country music throughout the evening Pool and football games were enjoyed as well as dancing arid visiting.Miss Baker wore blue jeans and a white terry cloth blouse Out of town guests included Jimmy Sparks, brother of the groom-elect.and Miss Stacie Hodge of Mananna; Mr and Mrs. Robert Irvin of Sheridan and Miss Bobbie Thornton and Paul Louthian of Little Rock,I
