Vonne Wolf (she’s the very personable public stenographer at the Hotel del) recently found herself involved in a September romance during the grocer’s convention. Dining with a friend here one evening, she met a very nice looking couple in their fifties and they all got together over a bottle of champagne. Turned out that the lady was a widow who had returned to live in Sail Diego (she’d lived in Coronado years ago) and the gentleman was a retired business man from Ramona. This was the first time they’d met in 35 years — once they’d been engaged but she had married someone else and he dropped out of sight. Just by chance she’d found his name in the phone book, called him and this resulted in a dinner date at the MV. Vonne was so intrigued with their wonderful personalities that she could not resist urging them to set a second wedding date. Her power of persuasion must have been terrific because a week later they eloped to Yuma and came back to us to celebrate. And so it is that our best wishes go to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rice for many years of wedded happiness . . . and to Vonne the nomination for Cupid of the Year.
