Murphy were married Saturday, May 17, at 8 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church in Kingsville. Rev. Donnal Timmons performed the single ring ceremony before an altar setting of white gladiolus and marconi daisies in tall baskets. Cathedral tapers were lit in seven branch wrought iron candelabra, on each side of the altar.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester T. Christopher of Kingsville. The groom is the son of Mrs. Ruth Murphy of Douglass, Mass.Mrs. Robert Stuckey, of Chicago, 111., was pianist. She played the traditional wedding marches, and accompanied F A. McKrell, soloist, who sang “The Lord's Prayer, “God Gave Me You” and “BecauseGiven in marriage by her father, the bride wore a yellow net over taffeta dress in ballerina length. The fitted bodice was strapless, and the self-style bolero of the nylon tulle over taffeta was fashioned with a high Queen Anne collar fastened with two rhinestone buttons at neckline. Her bolero sleeves were elbow' length, and she wore nylon mittens. Her picture hat w’as of yellow straw trimmed in maline and tiny pastel flow*ers.The bride carried a white Bible topped with a w’hite orchid and lily-of the valley, with white satin streamers tied in rose buds.Miss Clara Ann Rogers was the bridesmaid. She wore a pale green net over organdy dress, strapless with a white stole. Her skirt was I full, ballerina length, and her taut i bodice came to a point at the waist } line. Her picture hat and gloves were matching green.Miss Babe Custer and Philip Lister were candlelighters. Miss Custer wore a pink net over taffeta dress, strapless with a white stole. The skirt was full, ballerina length, and the bodice was tight fitted. Her headdress was a crown of pink Delight roses. Philip Lister’s suit w’as green and rust.Lewis G. Martens, Air Control -man 1st Class, USN, was best man. Ushers were Johnny Saunders and Martin Christopher.Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Calvary Baptist Church Parlor. Receiving with the bride and groom w^ereMr. and Mrs. Chester T. Christopher.The table was laid with w’hite hand embroidered linen, and centered with an arrangement of Mayorite daisies and aster reeds. The bride’s cake was four-tier, w’hite frosted and trimmed in yel-low^ roses with green leaves. It w’as topped with a miniature bride and groom.Miss Babe Custer poured, and Mrs. Alfred Ploug, Jr. served. Mrs. L. R. Hammerly presided at the bride’s book.For traveling, the bride wore a street length, navy taffeta dress with white accessories. The corsage wras a W’hite orchid.After a wedding trip the couple will be at home at 205 West Ella, Kingsville.The bride attended King High School, and the groom graduated from Douglass Memorial High School in Douglass, Mass.Out-of-town guests were Mrs. E. Hammerly, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Hammerly, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hammerly, Miss Carol Hammerly, Donald Hammerly, and Mrs. Callie DeLisle all from McAllen; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Christopher, Henry Christopher, Jr., and James Christopher, all from San Antonio.Loretta Atkinson Complimented at TeaMiss Loretta Atkinson, King High graduate, was entertained with an informal tea at the home of Mrs. E. F. Reed Tuesday afternoon, May 13, from 4 to 6. Mrs. J. L. Atkinson was co-hostess.The table w?as covered with a hand embroidered W’hite cloth. The centerpiece was a multi-colored spring flow’ers arrangements This was flanked by mist green candles burning in silver candle holders. Milk glass punch service w?as used to complete the table ensemble. Calendulas and bells of Ireland were the other arrangements used in the living room.Miss Norma Faye Reed and Miss Jo Ann Weisman alternated at the guest register. Miss Belva Braswell and Miss Lucille Hodge served. Other members of the house party wrere Miss Peggy Reed and Miss Barbara Jacob.Fifty guests attended.
