Margaret Ellen Efird of New Bern and Edwin Merle Edwards II of Kinston, who were married May 19 were honored with an engagement dinner on Nov. 12, 1989, hosted by the bride’s parents at their Cordgrass Bay residence.On Feb. 5, a bridal shower was hosted at the home of Mrs. Bobby Russ in Wrightsville Beach.On March 2, a cocktail party was hosted at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Gorman in New Bern. Other hosts of the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chiles, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clement, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Clement, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus McAden and Mr. and Mrs. Zack Taylor.On March 17, a luncheon-linen shower was hosted by Mrs. Merle White Edwards at the Kinston Country Club.On March 31, a honey-do shower was held at the Kinston Hotel Ballroom in Kinston. Hostesses were Nancy Jo Knox, June Knox, Penny Manning and Mary Sue Mur-phey.On May 19, a brunch by the pool was hosted by the bride’s family at Cordgrass Bay, Wrightsville Beach.
