Death Of Mrs.Laura DeverswMrs. Laura B. Devm, 70,widow of W. Lawrence Devers,and well-known here, was founddead at 10 a.m. today In her apartment, SIS South 'Garrison, by Mrs. Clyde States, who Ives in the downstairs unit of thebuilding.Mrs. Carl Allen, 900 Oak, failed to reach her sister, Mrs.CDevers, by telephone' this momlug and called Mrs. Slates, owner of the apartment house.The attending physician said Mr*. Devers died In her sleep.CShe suffered a severe heart tack last October and was apatient a month at McCune-Hrooks hospital. She had nekbeen well since suffering theattack.• e eMrs. Devers, the former LauraKenaston. was. 'horn 'Oct. €,ti1895, at Arlington, Neb. Herparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kenaston. moved, from ttereHamilton. Mo., when the daughter was a small child and ishort time later moved to southwest Missouri. In the late 1890's, Mr. Kenaston was associatedwith a 'brother-in-lawHoneycutt, in the operation of the old Gray Eagle mine, a productive lead and, slmc mine.The Kenaston family came Id Carthage in 1904. Mrs. Deversreceived her early eduoation In the rural schools, later attending Carthage schools. She wasgraduated from Carthage high school with the class of 1913and attended Warrensburg Statecollege.Mrs. Devers taught two years In the rural schools of this areaand in 1918 was elected to teachin the Carthage schools, her firstassignment being in the old'Benton, school.
