A feature of the evening was the signaling of one of the girls to another by whistling in the code language, sending a telegram of congratulations to the best mothers in the world.* *HOSTESS TO SCOUT GROUPMiss Laverne Lee, niece of Mrs. D. C. Van Zante, was hostess Monday evening at a picnic at Grundman’s grove to her girl scout sisters and the leaders of the group.Those present were 12 Girl Scouts and their leader and assistant, Mrs. J. B. Van Hemert and Mrs. Bob Kuy-per.* *PIANO RECITAL IS A PLEASING EVENTMiss Lois Rietveld presented Martha Van Berkum, eleven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Van Berkum in a piano recital at 1107 Broadway on Tuesday, May 9 at 8 p. m.Martha began the study of piano with Miss Rietveld at the age of seven years. She shows great interest in the work and is untiring in her effort to obtain the beautiful in music.A large audience enjoyed the following program in which Miss Martha was assisted by Freda Zwank and Cora Mae Vander Linden.1. This was on May 12, 1873.This event fell on last Friday, but owing to the fact that some of the relatives could not be present the celebration was not held until the following day, Saturday.The guests brought well filled baskets in the forenoon and at noon dinner was served to 74 persons, consisting of the honorees, Mr. Kelder-Artie, Lena Pearl, and Leonard. Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Kelderman and three children, Artie, Rachel and William of Tracy, Mr. and Mrs. George Van-denberg and five children as follows: .Mr, and Mrs. Cornie Schuring, Artie Margaret, Wilma and Janet, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kelderman and children Jacob and Mary Ann of Os-kaloosa and their son William of Pella, Mr. and Mrs. William Messa-maker and four children, Cornie, Arthur, Nettie and Josephine, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Huisman and four children Marie, Wilma, Ralph and Anna, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Kelderman and four children, Cornelia, Irene, William and Marvin. We will add that Mrs. Messamaker and Mrs. Huisman are twins. Other guests were Eugene Ver Ploeg, Gerald Vriezelaar and Miss Pearl Kingery of Knoxville.^ Mr. and Mrs. Kelderman were married 17 years before leaving Holland coming here in 1890. They first set- . tied on a farm 8 miles northeast of Pella and have resided in this city . since 1906.Specially invited guests in the af- 1 ternoon were Rev. and Mrs. R. J.
