She has lived in the vicinity all her life and is highly esteemed and beloved by a host of friends. The groom is one of the prosperous young farmers of the vicinity, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hansman Barkema, of Jewell, and is held in high regard by everybody in this section of the county. The happy young couple will begin housekeeping at once upon the groom's farm three miles northea'st of Jewell, where Mr. Barkema is just completing the erection of a fine new home for his bride.Hosts of friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Barkema will join with the Record in extending congratulations and hearty good wishes for their long continued happiness and prosperity in life.Thursday, May 9th, a reception was given to Mr. Barkema and his bride at the home of the groom’s brother, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Barkema. W. Carson having arranged to play the crack Webster City high school team a game on the Kamrar grounds. The gamewill be the dedication event for thefine new ball grounds that the home boys have secured and have put in splendid shape at the expense of a considerable expenditure of labor and money. The diamond is located on the Sampson grounds just south of the railroad track which have been leased for the season. The diamond has been skinned and rolled, a back stop built, a gate put in the railroad fence to the grounds, and everything put in fine shape for the opening game.Webster City has a fast bunch of ball tossers and will give the locals strenuous competition in their initial appearance for the season. The local lineup has not been announced, but Capt.
