Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. NelsonMr., Mrs. R. G. Nelson Mark Silver Wedding AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Nelson, Frostburg, were honored yesterday on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. The surprise celebration took place at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club and was hosted by the couple’s children.The couple was married May 12, 1961, at the Hancock Methodist Church. Rev. C. Gordon Clews was the officiating clergyman and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bennett, Eckhart, served as the attendants.Mrs. Nelson, the former Lynn S. Tracy, is the daughter of Mrs. Dororthy Tracy, Pasadena, Md., and the late Frank Tracy. She is a fifth grade teacher at Cash Valley Elementary School. Mr. Nelson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph O. Nelson, Eckhart, and is a science teacher at Braddock Junior High School. Both Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are active members of the Eckhart United Methodist Church.Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are the parents of four children, Mark G. Nelson, Baltimore; and Jill Nelson, Beth Nelson and Matthew Nelson, all at home. They also have one grandson, Brad Thomas Nelson, Baltimore.A buffet luncheon was held, with Mrs. Linda Carder in charge of the arrangements. The ballroom was decorated with traditional silver streamers. A floral arrangement of pastel daisies surrounded by fern centered the head table, which was also decorated with a “Happy Anniversary” banner and hanging bell clusters. Silver candle holders held six tapered white candles. The four-tier cake was accented with blue roses, silver leaves and white doves and was topped with white bells and a silver “25th” ornament. The cake was made by Mrs. Shelby Gable and served by Mrs. Pam Dolan and Mrs. Rosalie War-nick, sisters of the couple. Miss Stacey Pugh and Mrs. June Filsinger presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Christa Friend registered the guest. All are nieces of the couple. Gifts were registered by the couple’s daughters.The invocation was given by Rev. George Harpold, pastor of the Eckhart church, and Mark G. Nelson, son of the couple, served as the master of ceremonies. A poem capsulizing the couple’s 25 years of marriage was composed by the family and presented to the couple by their son, Matthew. A short program was held. Jill, Beth and Matthew Nelson presented several music selections in honor of their parents and Mrs. Lori Winters provided music for the reception.The couple was presented with a photo collage of their years together and a rosebud corsage and boutonniere by their family. Other gifts included a pillow made by Mrs. Melinda Cunningham with the couples names and anniversa*ry date sewn in two hearts.Approximately 125 friends and relatives attended the celebration.
