Relic* of the Moumi Builders*P. I, Mitchell* the ttipon archaeologist, writes to the Wisconsin, saying that on April 27 he discovered two inrue elephant mounds neur Marquette, AVis. The mounds are in perfect condition, one of thfcin being particularly well shaped. On the same day Mr. Mitchell opened a burial mound containing two skeletons, a sepulchral urn, and a-nock-, lace of copper heads. The larger ol tho mounds, 31 r, Mitchell says, is as perfect a delineation of the outline of a mastodon as any wood cut he ever saw, and, lie thinks, furnishes convinchig et'i-dence that man and the mastodon.were co-esistent on this continent.
