Betty Sermersheim , Herman Merkley WedMiss Betty Sermersheim became the bride of Herman Merkley Saturday, April 19, at 8 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, Ireland, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sermersheim of Ireland and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiiliam Merkley of Siberia.Rev. Carl Shetler officiated ait the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with palms, bouquets of white snapdragons and pink gladioli.The bride wore a floor - length •gown of net lace over an underskirt of satin. The fitted bodice was of lace and featured a square neckline and long sleeves ending in bridal points over the hands. The floor-length skirt was of net with four lace panels down through the skirt. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was caught to a pillbox-shaped headpiece of lace to match the dress. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of white rosebuds and pink carnations.She had as her maid of honor her sister, (Florence Sermersheim of Ireland. Bridesmaids were Catherine Merkley and Darlene Merkley of Siberia, sisters of the bridegroom.Attendants of the bride wore blue fleor-length gowns of lace over taffeta. The fitted bodices were styled with scalloped necklines and tiny cap sleeves. The matching headdresses were crowns styled of iridescent braid and small flowers. They carried cascade bouquets of pink carnations.The bridegroom had as his best man his brother, Raymond Merkley of Siberia. Ushers were Ralph Jochem of St. Henry, cousin of the bilde, and Richard Sermersheim of Ireland, brother of the bride. Chauffeur was Richard Paulin of Siberia, cousin of the bridegroom.The Bx-ide gave her attendants pearl necklace and earrings.Breakfast and dinner were served at the home of the bride followed by a reception at Sakel's Drive-in.Mother of the bi’ide wore a beige dress with brown accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a light blue suit with white accessories. Both wore pink carnation corsagesThe couple left on a trip to the Smoky Mountains. For traveling the bride wore a beige dx*ess with match ing duster and brown accessories.Before her marriage the bride had been employed as a nurses aide at Memorial Hospital.The bridegroom is employed at the Jasper Rubber Products.
