She is employed at Virginia’s Hair Styling j Shop. Mr. Lewis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis Jr., 1S10 Odell.BRIDEGiven in marriage by her brother, Gary, the bride wore a floor - length gown of fn'idal Taffeta designed with an all-lace bodice featuring a Sabrina neckline and long sleeves which tapered to bridal points over the hands. The bouffant bell skirt of taffeta appliqucd with lace extended into a chapel train.Her ballerina - length veil of silk illusion was held to a princess crown of pearl loops ac -cented with pearl drops.She carried a bouquet of cym* bidium orchids arranged with lilies - of - the valley and feathered carnations.ATTENDANTSin pink de - lustcrcd satin sheaths with lace overskirts. Each carried a bouquet of white carnations. Their headpieces were fashioned of pink satin rosettes encircled with brief veils.Phillip Briscoe was best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Tom Foster, bride’s cousin, Richard Snnkey and Ron Mix.Miss Ann Lewis, bridegroom’s sister, served as flower girl. Tini Lewis, bridegroom’s brother, carried the rings to the bridal pair on a white satin pillow.Miss Connie Wciser provided nuptial music and served as accompanies! for the Boys’ Choir and for the soloist, Charles Dawson, as he sang Ave Maria.**For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Foster chose a light blue three - piece lace suit with white accessories. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Lewis, wore a navy blue dress with navy accessories. Their corsages were fashioned from white carnations.RECEPTIONFollowing brunch at 12 noon in Maude’s Cafe in Iloisington, a reception was held in the A*Shamrock Home Demonstration Unit this week reviewed its history of accomplishments and activities.A spokesman for the club pointed out “we are happily aware of the fact that we are in the midst of our 29th year of striving to make our homes and communities better places in which to live and to provide our families with the advantages offered through constantly improving nutritional health and home improvement standards.”The Shamrock Home Demonstration Unit was organized Dec. 6, 1946 with eight members, five of whom are still active members, Mmes. Irwin Alcfs, Homer Bird, Vernon Doonan, Wendell Doonan and Arnold Essmiller Jr.Since 1946, membership has fluctuated with a high of 15 and the present membership of 10 including Mmes. Paul Blankenship, Elward Hiss Jr., Robert Laudick, Loyal Otte, and Hugh R. Steadman, as well as the charter members listed previously.Mrs. Bird and Mrs. A1 e f s have served on the BartonCounty HDU Advisory Committee and the County Extension Board.The unit Is especially proud of the 17 consecutive Gold Seals it has been awarded for meeting the requirements ofthe County Standard of Excellence.Some of the community projects sponsored in the past include adoption of needy families: taking magazines andtreats as well as remember birthdays of people in the County home; a water testing pro -gram: assistance to the Cerebral Palsy Association; collection of eye glasses; clearing dangerous country intersections of trash and high weeds; attempting to organize a Bookmobile for Barton County; helped to organize another HDU; has been particularly interested in Mental Health and have collected used jewelry, clothing, magazines for the Larned State Hospital; purchased a number of coupons for patients at the State Hospital to be used by them for various necessities.The Shamrock Unit meets the second Wednesday of each month, except July. In addition to its planned program of work, it also includes a Card Party honoring husbands each month, except during the summer work season; family parties in the spring and fall; a family picnic in the summer.Wills, checking accounts; talks by American Field Service students; speakers who have toured foreign countries and have sponsored talks on Emotional Problems of Children “in connection with the Mental Health program.”Three LengthsPrinted PatternircI1Miss Kathy Foster served her merican Legion Hall in Hoisingsister as maid of honor.
