Cordes Observes 71st BirthdayMrs. J. A. Cordes was 71 years old Sunday, May 2, and the occasion was celebrated with a family dinner at the old farm home, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Cuthbertson. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cardes and children, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Papenfuhs and Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. John Cordes, jr., and Sharon, all of Swea City, and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Cordes and Bertha of Rolfe.All of the children were present except Gerhard of Houston, Texas, and Claus of Mt, Pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Claus Cordes and family had planned to be with the group but were kept home because Mr. Cordes had the measles. The children who were here presented their mother an electric heating pad.Auxiliary Will Have Mother's Day Meeting The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its annual Mother’s Day meeting at the Legion hall Monday, May 10. All mothers are cordially invited. Hostesses will be Mesdames C. B. Chapman, Francis Hood, Harriett Carlson, Amos Marchant and George Schonberger.Monthly iMeeting.Excelsior Society The monthly meeting of the Excelsior society will be held Wednesday, May 12, at 2:30 o’clock, with divisions meeting separately in the folowing homes: Division 1, Mrs. Hortense Siefkin; Division 2, Mrs. Ellwood Olerich; Division 3, Mrs. M.
