The “Tboi. Ven-uers” was built by Messrs. It M. Coule-hso, practical boat builders of this city, for Mr. Patrick tianly, and her machinery is of the same patent as that used in the steamer “Ludlow Patton,” kaviog the adjustable propel lor which can be raUed or submerged at will. Although the machinery Was not tightened up, the boat ran wy smoothly, and with the rery least possible tremor, showing her to be strongly built- Oa the return she mads ‘a mile in exactly eight minutes, notwithstanding the new machinery which always works hard at first. The advantages or the “drop” propellors bare been abundantly proved* as the engine of the “Ven-neri” is modelled after the fashion of that used in the “Patton”—ona of the most perfect and successful steamers on the canal, and there can be no doubt of her snccees as a steamer. The engine and propeller were manufactured at the machine worke of W. W. McKaig A Son, of this city, and are of first-class make and material.
