Xrizon* Republic, Phoenix, Monday Morning, May 4, 1942111 To Wed Instructor TMESA, May 3-The betrothal and approaching marriage of Miss Dorothy Beall, lovely daughter of Mr and Mrs. R. E. Beall of Mesa, and Robert Earl James, civilian flight instructor at Falcon Field, was made known this morning at a 10 o’clock breakfast given by the bride-elect’s mother at Golden Mesa Tearoom.The wedding Is to take place in Junfe.Cleverly utilizing the aviation theme, a large airplane made of while flowers centered the breakfast table. On one wing, in red carnations, was spelled the name ’’Bob” and on the other, in blue flowers, was spe'led the name Dot.The announcement came as a complete surprise to the many friends of the young couple both here and in the valley.Miss Beall, a popular resident of this Southside city, was selected queen of the Arizona State Citrus Show in 1939 and was also selected as Miss Mesa in an earlier contest. She is a graduate of the Mesa Union High School where dunnE her senior year she served as Girls league president. An active member of the local Eastern Star, she is a past worthy adviser of the Mesa assembly. Order erf the Rambow for Girls. She is associated with a Phoenix insurance concern.Mr. James, son of Mr. and Mrs -S. K. James of Los Angeles, Calif, graduated from a Lc* Angeles high I school where he held the positions of both Boys League and student' body president. He is a graduate of the University o! Southern Cali-i fomin at Los Angelos where he was ( outstanding in athletics. At the university, he waj awarded bolh scholastic 8nd athletic .scholarships and was affiliated with Ephebian fraternity.Breakfast guests were Mrs. S. K.
