CHAMPIONS—First place in the first High School Chemistry Tournament at Texas Air! University in Kingsville was won by this Hebbronville team of (left to right) Norma Vivanco, Nelda Canales and David Reagan.FalfurriasNewsBy LINDA GONZALEZ Area CorrespondentMrs. Dan Smith and Mrs. Mellon Page were in Dallas where they got acquainted with a new grandson and nephew born recently to Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Smith.Miss Nelda Jean Garcia and Gary Lynn Wilson solemnized their vows in the Holy Sacrament of marriage at the King’s House in Kingsville. The Rev. Dan Kissinger performed the double ring ceremony.“The Spring Day Singers” sang a beautiful melody of Praise God Songs, including “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Christian Love,” “Tell My People I Love Them,” and others.Parents of the bride are Mrs. and Mrs. Hector L. Garcia of Falfurrias. The groom is the son of Mrs. Gary Wilson of Houston and the late Gary Wilson. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was lovely in her floor-length gown of pink knit designed and made by the bride. She wore a lace mantillaand carried a single long-stem red rose.The bridal attendants were Miss Melissa Nave and David Pena. Miss Nave wore a flooring! h beige gown.Following the ceremony, a reception for the family and close friends of the bride was held at the King's House. The bride’s wedding cake and the groom’s cake centered the refreshment tables.Members of the house party were Mesdames Luis Zapata, Raul J. Garcia, Homero Canales, Markel Heath, Norman Nave, Henry Perez Sr., W L. Ayers, William Jarvis, Richard Ray, George Naranjo, Miss Susan Ayers, Miss Jenny Thompson, Eric Nave, Charles Jarvis, Mike Russell, and Scott Smith.The bride is a 1969 graduate of Falfurrias High School, attended T.W.U. at Denton, Texas University, and is now in her senior year at Texas AI University. The groom attended the Univeristy of Houston and is presently with the Army.| Following a short wedding trip to Rockport, the couple will make their home in Kingsville at the end of the groom’s Army commitment.Out-of-town guests present were the bride’s relatives, Mr. and Mrs. J. AI chemistry professor and chairman of the South Texas Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The section was tournament co-sponsor with the AI Chemistry DepartmentTwo Corpus Christi Carroll High School students won scholarships in individual competition Mark Luckstead was first, Tip Johnson, third. Mary l,e Sueur of San Antonio Thomas Jefferson was second The scholarships to Al, for 1150, II00and 160, respectively,were contributed by PPG Industries and Du Pont Hebbronville’* first place winning team included Nelda Canales.
