Test of Signal LightsAn experiment with signal lights was carried on by three Liberty Memorial high school students un-■ ider the supervision of C. B. Cunningham a few evenings ago. The boys found that they could read the signals from a ; distance of 4% miles. The test was made at Blue Mound. The boys were Georgy Frazier, Bill Casteen and JimmyBichardson. I# ■»Monroe-Dowdell WeddingMrs. Edna Elizabeth Monroe,daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Monroe of Lawrence, became the bride of Bichard Louis Dowdell of Iiawrence, at a ceremony read Sunday evening, March 22, at 6 o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents. The Bev. B. King, pastor of the St. Luke A.M.E. church, read the single ring ceremony.The bride wore a floor-length dress of white lace over white taffeta, her fingerrtip veil of bridal illusion falling from a tiara of white roses. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Walter Monroe. Mrs. Elnora Hayes, whowas matron of honor, wore a gownof white taffeta, with white satinjacket. William Hayes served asbest man.An informal reception followed the wedding. The dining room table, laid with a lace cloth, was centered with a three-tiered cake, decoratedwith pink roses and a miniature bridal pair. 6n each side were^white candles.
