Powers-Blanke Nuptials Held in South HollandPrivate First Class David Henry Blanke claimed Miss Shereen Gay Powers as his bride in a ceremony March 4 at the Grace Lutheran church, South Holland.The Rev. Milton Lehr heard the nuptial vows which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter K. Powers, Jr., of 1R810 Louis court, South Holland, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blanke, Jr., 15521 Cottage Grove, Dolton.Escorted by her father, Miss Powers walked down the aisle to the strains of Trumpet Voluntary in I) major by Purcell. She w ore a gown of peau de soie and Chantilly lace. Designed along A-lines, the gown featured a high neckline, lantern sleeves and empire waistline. The waistline was encircled with a white satin ribbon accented with a bow in front. I,ace appliques highlighted with seed pearls embellished the entire gown.HER ELBOW length veil was held by a Camelot headpiece and she carried a bouquet of phalaenopsis orchids, step-hanotis and ivy together with a white Bible.Miss Rachelle DeYoung of South Holland was her maid of honor and Miss Audrey Tarrance, also of South Holland, the bridesmaid. The bridegroom’s sister, Debra, was junior bridesmaid. All wore apricot empire chiffon gowns fashioned with leg-of-mutton sleeves and a panel of apricot lace in front and back. Matching bow headpieces held theirblusher veils. The honor attendant carried a cascading bouquet of nile green pompon chrysanthemums, green cymbidium orchids and greens. The brides maids carried white pompon chrysanthemums and apricot carnations with greenery.Seating the guests and also serving as groomsmen were Bruce Koontz and Harry Fuller of Dolton. John Fuehrmeyer of South Holland was the best man.Nuptial music was provided by Tony Spelde, organist, withDouble TroubleA man sued for divorce because his wife spent all their money playing the horses — that must be a new kind of nag-Steven DeYoung and Gary Jensen, soloists. Mr. DeYoung sang “The Wedding Song,” and accompanied himself on the guitar. The Wedding Benediction by Lovelace was sung by Mr. Jensen accompanied by the organist.FOLLOWING THE 4:30 p.m. ceremony, a reception for 150 guests was held at the VFW hall in Calumet Cuty.The new Mr. and Mrs. David Blanke are now residing in San Clementa, Calif. Mr. Blanke is serving with the U.S. Marine corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Both he and his bride are 1971 graduates of Thornridge high school.
