Banner cloaca my editorial career, and according to ctritom in such cases observed from time immemorial, I tender my patrons my hand in farewell, while, I introduce to them my successor. I do not abandon the editorial chair because it has been to me a seat of thorns—though not exactly a couch of roses—I have enjoyed as much of the otium'i while in it, as I could reasonably expect—my reward has been commensurate with my most sanguine anticipations. But the pursuits of my profession were constantly interfering with my editorial avocations, and prevented my devoting to them the time and attention they required. The incompatibility of the two pursuits, and the difficulty of honoring the numerous drafts they were constantly draw-sngonray industry and mental resources, have induced the determination to desert from the torp$ editorial and devote myself exclusively to lay profession.The paper will in future be conducted by Mr. Webb, who has purchased the establishment. He has superintended the office for nearly a year past, and has edited the paper fluting my occasional absences from home.
