Early Spring nuptials were celebrated Saturday, when Miss Carol Jean Hayes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel W. Hayes, Sheffield, became the bride of George Davis, Peoria. Mr. Hayes is a son of Mrs. Judith Davis, Peoria, and the late Harold Davis. Vows were spoken at 7 p.m.,, : a in the Methodist church in Shef field, the Rev. Richard Den mark, performing the double ring ceremony. Soft candle light was the background setting, as was the organ music of Mrs. Walter Johnson. Shef field, Mrs. Virginia Folkwire, Peoria, was soloist. Presenting the bride at the altar was Mr. Hayes. A gown of lace over taffeta was chosen by the bride. It was designed with a scooped-scalloped neck line outlined in seed pearls, long sleeves and tuff inserts were featured in the front skirt, with lace tiers in back, sweep ing into a train. Her chapel veil of English illusion was held by a crown of Alencan lace, edged with seed pearls and she carried a cascade of white gar denias and ivy. Attending the bride was Miss Deann Whipple of Buda, who was attired in a pink, crepe floor length sheath gown. A back satin bow added interest and she wore a matching pink pill box hat, which held a nose-up veil. She carried white mums and ivy. Best man for Mr. Davis was a brother of the bride, Dan K. Hayes. Ushers were Mark Griffin of Sheffield and Jim Davis, brother of the bridegroom, from Peoria, Reception for about 120 friends and relatives was ar ranged in the church parlors by Naomi circle of the Methodist church. Pink and white, the bride’s colors, were used on the serving table, where Mrs. D. Harrison, Kirkwood, cut the tiered wedding cake and Mrs. Harold Cook, Monmouth, poured coffee. They are aunts of the bride. Miss Penny Davis, a sister of the bridegroom, poured punch. The bridal party were seated at a table decorated with pink and white bows. At the gift table were friends, Miss Judy Lootens, Sheffield. Miss Mary Paula Hoenscheid Sheffield, Mrs. Pete De- Freezer, Manlius and Miss Janice Nefcour, Mineral, Miss Valarie Moats sat at the guest book, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, who plan a later wedding trip, are at home, 1604 Knoxville, Peoria. Mrs. Davis, a Western Com munity high school graduate, has just completed training with the Liberty Beauty School in Peoria. Mr. Davis is employed with the Caterpillar company. Miscellaneous shower parties have been held by Mrs. Harri son and Mrs. Cook, in Sheffield Methodist church, by fellow stu dents at the Liberty Beauty school and by Mrs. Eunice Crawford of Peoria, all honor ing the bride.
