It W j is said that he was a member of a gang of hoboes when he was hired to work on the farm. Early in the winter he was discharged by Mr. Sledge, who stated today that he had never had trouble with the man.From all indications, Strebl, who was abotu 25 years old, was infatuated with the daughter in the family. At the time of his death he was wearing a locket, in which were the photographs of the girl and Mrs Sledge. The locket evidently had been stolen at some time from the Sledge home. It is believed that Strebl intended to make a hasty escape after the shooting, as a horse partially harnessed was found in the barn after the affair.Letter in Pocket.The following letter, which was not signed, was found in te pockets of the dead man. It evidently was written last Thursday and never mailed. The wording and spelling is literal.“Riverside. S.D.
