The program was worth twice the price of admission. The male quartete—Mr. Pilgrim, Fred and Bert Deyo and Mr. Roach—had to respond to an encore and sang Old Kentucky Home. The children outdid themselves, as they always do, especially iu the cake walk. The proceeds amounted to upwardsof lifty dollars.Grant Blake and Helen Shaw, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Shaw, were united in marriage in Bradford \la**eh 8, at the home of the biide.’a paronts. Rev. Dunl^vv, formerly a pastor here, performed the ceremony in the preseoce of the relatives. Josie Shaw, nister of the bride, and Amos Blake, brother of the groom, acted as bilde’s maid and best man. The happy couple began housekeeping on a farm one mile south of town. These young people are highly respected and bavt the best wishes of a large circle of friends.About a week ago Mrs. H, B. Hin* man sent out invitations to a reception, which was given at her home on East Main street Thursday, March n, to which twenty eight ladies re upended in person. At two o’clock Mrs. Hinrnan began to receive her guests. The rooms were artistically decorated in pink and green. The stair railing and arches of the interior were intei woven with evergteen Smiiax was seen in profusion clinging to lace curtains and gracefully falling from handsomely draped mantles; and palms, potted plants and bouquets of delicate pink carnations and rosea were scattered about, presenting a scene of beauty At2.:jo»he guests had nearly all arrived. Hazel Sharp, the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Sharp, at tended the door. She was attired in white swiss muslin and white kid slippers, and wore a bouquet of rosea. The little elf was the picture cfa fairy. Miss Phelps, of Princeton, niece of Mrs. Hinman, assisted her In receiving the guests. Miss Phelps favored the company with a selection on the piano, following which was a solo by Mrs. Keller L^et, of Aurora, who is an accomplished musician and sang beautifully. Mrs. Robert Thompson presided at the organ. During this time Mrs. Hin* man, assisted by her niece, brought into the parlors three small tables of art exhibits, all of which were numbered. Each ladv was given a tiny booklet with pencil attached, and the lady guessing the exact names of alt the exhibits was to be awarded n prize, which resulted in Mise Lib hie Brown, of Milo, drawing it—a small gold spoon. The bright eun-jsblne of the afternoon illuminated the faces of the ladies, as well as that of the hostess, whose tact and untiring grice made it so pleasant for all present. Mrs. Leefc favored u-with another solo, during which time lupoheon was being prepared on small tables daintily spread. When all was in readiness the hostessstepped into the parlors and announced that they would all find tbfcir places at the different table by a card wi h their name on at their plate. In a whisper of confusion they flitted here and there until all were soon seated at the tables. Bucb a joyous set of lad es! No gentlemen were present to dictate to them9or hurry them away from the festivities of the evening.
