When the happy day arrived it was found the angry elements interfered and on on account of flooded creeks Jeffjfailed to get to Vernon. The wedding feast at which there was neither bride or groom was partaken of by friends assembled. On the next day Jefferson went around the high waters, making his trip safely and securing his papers, a new wedding feast was prepared, the guests again invited, and in the evening made happy by Rev. H. Morrow.
