Engagement announcedMr. and Mrs. John Gilmer Blackburn of Decatur, Alabama, are proud to announce theengagement of their daughter,Miss Gay Isley Blackburn, to Mark Daniel Maloney of Ridgway, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Arthur Maloney.A June 2 wedding is planned at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Alabama. On Friday evening, June 29, a reception and dance will be held at the American Legion Hall in Ridgway.Miss Blackburn is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Claude Birdsong and the late Mr. Birdsong, of Decatur, Alabama, and also Mrs. John Anderson Blackburn and the late Mr. Blackburn of Auburn, Alabama.Miss Blackburn was graduatedwith honor in art and English from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, where she was selected for Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board, and Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. At Agnes Scott, she served as editor-in-chief of the yearbook (The Silhouette), junior class president and sophomore class treasurer. She will be graduated in May from the Vanderbilt University School of I,aw in Nashville, Tennessee, where she is president of the Vanderbilt Bar Association and a member of the Moot Court Board. She is also a member of the Decatur Cotillion Club.Mr. Maloney is the grandson of Mrs. Peter J. Banninger and the late Mr. Banninger of I,exington, Ky., and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Joseph Maloney of Ridgway.Mr. Maloney received his bachelor’s degree cum laude in history from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Harvard, he was president of the Undergraduate Managers Council, president of the Harvard Memorial Society, and a member of the Faculty Committee on Athletic Sports. He was also a member of the Phoenix-S.K. Club and the Hasty Pudding Club. Mr. Maloney will also be graduated from the Vanderbilt School of I,aw in May where he is administrative editor of the Vanderbilt I^w Review and serves on the Honor Council. Currently,the secretary-treasurer of the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, Mr. Maloney has also served as a member of the National Board of Directors of the Catholic Youth Organization and as a member of the Illinois Council of Youth.
