Public Wedding Witnessed by Big Crowd More than 500 people assembled in ront of the court house Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock to witness the public wedding advertised by the justness men. The contracting parities were Theodore Daniels and Miss Gladys Martin, both of Highland (township.Shortly after 3:30, a- the minute hand on the clock began Its ascent, Justice John P. Bever of Newport, the ‘-marrying squire” of Vermillion county, to!.owed by the bride and groom, a dozen relatives and friends of the north end, and a few county officials appealed on the balcony of tbe ccurt house. The crowd cheered loudly.As soon as the applause subsided the bride and groom, a nice appearing young couple—as expressed by hundreds in tbe crowd—stepped for ward, when Justice Bever said: ‘Announcing Theodore Daniels and Miss Gladys Martin who are about to be made one.”He then proceeded, in his usual impressive manner, te make the happy young couple husband and wife, when tbe crowd broke loosed again. Many rushed forward to coo* I gratulate Mr. aod Mrs Daniels. | The groom 1b 19 years old, a son of William Daniels. The bride is 17, a • daughter of Karnea Martin. Both are popular, highly respected citizens j of the Tree Springs neighborhood in Highland township.The bride was charming in her blue suit, coat and hat and trimmings to {natch. The groom was attire*? in a suit of dark green.It Is a pleasure to chronicle the marriage of such a worthy young couple, whose good qualities are many.Among those from Highland township who witnessed the wedding were: Emma Dowdell, Bernice Martin, Deeste Martin, Bessie Sheets, Cecil Thomas, W. H. Funk, Mr. and Mrs. John Wlteman, Charles Payton, Elsie Cbtsler Talbert, Katie Smith and tbe parents of both.This wedding was planned by the Newport business men as a drawing card for their tale day. Each merchant gave the young couple a present and paid for the license. The justice donated hie services.
