BRIDAL SHOWERAT MUSCOTAHMiss Rose Barthel, bride-elect of John Smith and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Barthel, Muscotah, was honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower March 7 at the Muscotah city hall Special guests that were introduced included Mr. Smith’s grandmother, Mrs. Harold Christie, and great grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Neving.A spring motif was used in decorating the hall with Easter bunnies and a wooden shoe with jonquils centering the bride’s table. The serving table was highlighted with a floral arrangement and candelabra.Mrs. Tom Fassnacht attended the guest book. Misses Dixie Smith, Karen Hollis, and Eileen Smith arranged the gifts.A program was presented by Mrs. Wayne Cappleman who accompanied on the accordion, Miss Barthel’s sisters, Mrs. Lola Wagner and Mrs. Ruth Hicks.Miss Barthel was assisted in opening her gifts by her mother, Mrs. William Barthel, and mother of the prospective bridegroom, Mrs. Harvey Smith of Kansas City, Mo.Hostesses for the evening included Mesdames Thelma Vansell, Katherine Small, Beatrice Ray, Dorothy Fassnacht, Pauline Hollis, Leota Hollis, Anita Fassnacht, Lucille Brown, Levaughn Henning, Judy Green, Pearl Rice, Evelyn Weaver, Lorene Compton, Bonnie Anderson, and Emma Higley.Rose Barthel and John Smith will exchange wedding vows March 23 at the Muscotah United church.
