Charlottesvillian Attend Kinsman’s Wedding In PhilaMrs. Mary Carr Greer of River View, * her sister, Mrs. Peachie Carr Jackson of J Charlottesville, motored to Philadelphia re-1 cently where they witnessed the marriage! of their nephew, Dr. Charles Francis Whit- J ten of Buffalo, N. Y. to Miss Mary Eloise Culmer of Philadelphia.Dr. Whitten is the eldest son of Mrs. j , Emma Carr Whitten, formerly of Charlottesville, but who now resides in Wilmington, Delaware, and the late Tobias E. Whitten.Dr. Whitten who was called to active duty in the Armed Forces in 1950, was first stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C.f then 1 Japan, and finally Korea. He has been in the states only a few weeks. Dr. Whitten did his graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, and received his M. D. degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville,. Tenn. He is a member of the Omega Psi j Phi Fraternity.His bride, Miss Culmer, is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Leon Culmer of Philadelphia. She is a graduate of Temple University, and holds a M. S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.St. Augustine Episcopal Church where the ceremony was performed was appropriately decorated with cut flowers and candles. Two selections, “Visa Darte” and Ave Maria'* were sung by Miss Dorothy Candie of New York City.Father William I). Turner performed the ceremony. The bride wore a beautiful gown of nylon tulle combined with ivory satin,decorated with applique of sequins and pearls. A crown of pearls and lace held her finger tip length veil of illusion. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and orchids. Her sister, Miss Olga Culmer, the maid of honor was attired in rose taffeta, a miniature replica of the bride's gown. The other attendants wore gowns of green taffeta.Mr. Benjamin Whitten, brother of the groom, was best man. Mr. Tobias Whitten, Jr. was head usher. The other ushers were classmates of the groom.Relatives from Virginia were: Mr. and Mrs. Minor Jackson, and Mrs. Mary Carr Greer of Charlottesville, and Mrs. Hazel Carr Jackson, Farmville. From Washington, D. C.. Mr. and Mrs. 'Beverly Adams, sister of the groom; from Wilmington, Delaware were Mrs. Emma Carr Whitten, mother of the groom who was attired in a handsome ankle-length mauve lave over taffeta, with matching accessories. A lovely orchid blended with her attire. Other relatives from Wilmington, Delaware, were Mrs. Fannie Carr Washington, Miss Alice Ann Whitten. Mr. and Mrs. George Whitten and son, and many other friends.Following the wedding reception the happy couple left on their honeymoon, after which Dr. Whitten and his bride will return to his home in Buffalo, N.
