Miss Joanne Halsebo and John Robert Baker exchanged wedding vows before the altar of St. Joseph’s ‘Catholic church, Eureka, on Sunday afternoon, February 24, with the Rev. Father Declan O'Sullivan hearing their responses in the double-ring ceremony. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Elmer Halsebo, the bride was escorted to the altar by her father. Baker, whose home is in Lansing, Mich., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baker of Bebron, Ohio. For her wedding, the bride chose an ankle-length white wedding gown with which she wore a gossamer fingertip veil cascading from a lace tiara trimmed with seed pearls. Her bouquet was a nosegay of white carrations and blue iris, conter jed with a white orchid. Maid of honor Miss Carol Halsebo, sister of the bride, was attired in a nylon format of Wedgewood blue worn with light blue accessories, and car ried a nosegay bouquet of blue iris and white carnations. Best man for the bridegroom was David Albert of San Fran cisco, and ushers were Jack Hill of Eureka and John Grow ,man of San Francisco. Organ ist for the occasion was Miss Jana Sears of Eureka, who played the “Ava Maria” during the ceremony. Immediately following the wedding rites, a reception was held in the Carson Memorial building, with Miss Mary Anne Chiaroni presiding at the guest book and Miss Ingrid Brown in charge of the gift table. Punch and the wedding cake were served by Miss Kathy Fur nish, Miss Marilyn Gallagher, and Dolores Randall. Mrs. Halsebo witnessed her daughter’s marriage in a black and white suit, which she wore with white accesories. The new Mrs. Baker’ was graduated from Eureka Senior High school and attended Hum boldt State college. Her bride groom attended Michigan State college and the General Motors Technical Institute, and was employed as a draftsman for the Oldsmobile division of Gen eral Motors corporation. He is nat present with the U. S. Army stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco. They will reside in San Fran cisco until May, when Baker is released from the army, mak ing their home in Lansing, Michigan, after that time.
