Vaden-Holthaus WeddingMiss Virginia Kay Vaden became the bride of Dennis Holt-haus at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24, at St. Anthony’s Church in Becke-meyer.Rev. Shain, pastor of the church, performed the double ring High Mass ceremony.The bride is thhe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. X. L. Vaden of Irvington and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holthaus of Beckemeyer.The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of white silkfaced peau de soie for her wedding. The gown was fashioned with a fitted bodice of lace with long sleeves. The full skirt with a detachable chapel train, had wide bands of lace covered with sequins. Her veil was crested with sequins matching her dres and train. She carried a bouquet of white roses and attached to it was her grandfather’s prayer book.Miss Jackie Vaden, sister of the bride, was her maid of honor. Miss Dorothy Holthaus, sister of the groom, and Mis Sue Vaden, sister of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore floor length gowns. Their bell shaped skirts were of gold satin and the fitted bodices with long sieves were of gold velvet. Their headpieces were gold satin pill box shape covered with net. They carried yellow long stemmed roses and wore pearl necklaces, gifts of the bride.The flower girl, Carla Begue-lin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beguelin, wore a dress identical to the bridesmaids. She carried a basket of yellow roses and scattered petals of yellow carnations. She wore a little gold cross, gift of the bride.Adam Beguelin, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Beguelin, was the ring bearer. He carried a heart-shaped pillow of satin, tulle and lace.The best man was Louis Holthaus Jr., cousin of the groom. The groomsmen were Raymond Holthaus, uncle of the groom, and Bernard Holthaus, brother of the groom. The ushers were Julius Holthaus and Julius Kampworth.The bride’s mother chose a three-piece double knit blue suit and the groom’s mother chose a three-piece green suit. They both wore yellow carnations.Immediately following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held in St. Anthony’s hall for the bridal party.Assisting at the gift table were Mrs. Raymond Meyer, Miss Cindy Rowekamp, and Mrs. William Rowekamp. At the punch bowl were Mrs. Jerry Beguelin and Miss Susan Trindle. Mrs. Harold Koelling cut and served the wedding cake. Miss Kathy Croan was at the guest book.The bride graduated with the class of ’66 from the Centralia High School and is employed in the IBM department of the Hollywood Candy Co. The groom graduated with the class of ’62 from Mater Dei High School at Breese and is employed by Granite City Steel in Granite City.After a wedding trip through the western states, they will make their home in Breese.MR. and MRS.
