IN CUSTODYLew Freang Charged With Wife DesertionCase Filed this Marning-Sheriff Bailer Goes to Hammond Where Frewg Has Been Arrested-Sheriff Butler loft at noon today for Hammond, Ind. and will return tonight with Lewis F. Freng, a young man quite well known here and who la wanted on a charge of deserting hia family. Freang was bom and raised in this city and lived here until about three years ago, when be went to Hammond and secured employment in a packing establishment. He is a son ofTom Freang, who oom mitted suicide here a number of years ago. Lewis | was married four or five years agoto a Miss Cougelton, who has been living here for a year or two. Lew came back to his family last fall and remained nnttl December 13th, when he returned to Hammond. Prosecutor Moran filed the case in court this morning, a warrant waa issued and word sent to Superintendent of Police Lawerenoe Cos, of Hammond, who soon wired that j he had Freang in custody. Freangs have three little children, at the oldeatonly three years old. Thepenalty for desertion is a fine of from $10 to $100.
