Post 150 hammers BatesvilleBY STEVE RANDALL Sports EditorJason Pavey had three hits and was backed up by Chad Ash and Dustin Hartman with two each last night as Rush Post 150 blasted 1994 state finalist Batesville 11-1 at the Council of Clubs Diamond.Rushville scored all the runs that they would need in the first inning.Brady Rife and Brent Thoman received back to back walks, Pavey had an infield hit to load the bases and Ash brought Rife home with a hit to left. After Kyle Tressler struck out Hartman then delivered a sacrifice fly to right to plate Thoman with the second run.Post 271 scored their only run of the night in the top of the second when Ryan Krekeler singledand mo. ed to second on a throw -ing error by Pavey. Matt Hirt walked and Krekeler moved to third on a wild pitch by Brian Kuhn. An error by Doug Click at short allowed Krekeler to score.Post 150 (3-4) added a single run in each of the next four innings to stretch their lead to 6-1.In the third Ash ripped a two-out single up the middle, stole second and scored on a Hartman single.Rife led the fourth off with a single, moved to second on an error by catcher Matt Sanders and came home on a Pavey single.In the fifth it was Tressler that led off with a double to center and later came home on a sacrifice fly to center by Click.The sixth inning run was without the benefit of a hit. Thoman walked and moved to third on a throwing error by Batesvillepitcher Jake Youngman. Thoman then proceeded to steal third and he came home on a passed ball.Rushville put the game to bed two innings early when they plated live more runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the game via the 10-run rule.Tressler walked to lead the inning off. Hartman singled, Chris Larkey singled to load the bases and Josh Cameron reached on a fielder's choice to score Tressler. Brian Kuhn reached on a fielder’s choice, with Hartman beating out the throw home. Rife then ripped a sacrifice fly to center to plate Larkey, with Thoman following with an RBI double and Pavey an RBI single to put the game on ice.Game totals showed Post 150 with 11 runs. 11 hits, three errors and nine runners left on base. Batesville managed one run, on four hits, they committed three errors and stranded 10.Brian Kuhn went the distance to notch the victory for Post 150. He struck out three and walked six. Youngman pitched six innings to take the loss for Post 271.Rushville Post 150 will next be in action on Sunday when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to battle the Cincinnati Storm Club. Double-header action is slated to begin at Noon Indiana time.
