Former Midlander Married In HoustonBarbara Jeanne French, former Midlander, became the bride of Staff Sgt. John Dlzell Dowdy in a military wedding at 2 p.in. Saturday in Chapel No. 1 at Ellington Air Force Base. Houston.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira J. French of Houston. She was graduated from Midland High School and attended Abilene Christian College. Abilene; Texas Technological College. Lubbock, and Massey's Business College. Houston.At Tech, she was a pledge of Delta 1 Gamma.The bridegroom, who is Stationed at Ellington Air Force Base with the 3605th Food Squadron, Is the son of Adam J. Dowdy, Kingman. Ariz. He attended Franklin High School. Franklin; Brerkenridge High School. San Antonio, and the University of Houston.The double ring wedding vows were read by an Air Force chaplain before an archway of white carnations, centered with a fanshaped altar arrangement of carnations. Mrs. Jeff McCoy of Victoria sang Because.”Honor attendants for the couple were Barbara Pearson of Houston and Staff Sgt. Robert G. Bryan of Ellington AFB. Mrs. Vivian North of Houston, sister of the bridegroom, was the brldesmatron, with Airman J/c Bill Wolfe of Ellington AFB as groomsman.Stella Eli In French of Houston, sister of the bride, served as flower girl, with Mike North of Houston, nephew of the bridegroom, as ring bearer. Seven servicemen of Ellington AFB formed the military honor guard.The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a waltz-length dress of white silk overlaid with net. Her illusion veil was attached to a crown of pearls an'4 her bouquet was of white feathered carnations centered with a white orchid. She wore white satin slippers and a pearl necklace and carried a lace handkerchief.Miss Pearson wore a waltz-length dress of light turquoise nylon silk, with matching picture hat of lace and matching shoes. She carried a nosegay of white pom-pons. Mrs. North wore a slmiliar gown of blush rose nylon silk, with matching | shoes and lace picture hat and a nosegay of white pom-pons. The flower girl was gowned in white organdy and lace with white shoes. She carried a lace basket of rose j petals.The reception was held in the! non-commissioned officers club at Ellington AFB.
