Smith-Smyth.A pretty home wedding’ occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will H. Smyth, Wednesday, June 2t, at high noon, when t heir daughter, KthelMayr was united in marriage to Kdd Derr Smith, of Lester, Iowa. Rev. McCol-lnugli, of the First Presbyterian church, of Chariton, officiated, using the beautiful and impressive ring ceremony, in the presence of over one hundred guests. Preceding the ceremony Miss Grace Hague, of Fairfield, sang. “I Love You Truly,’* followed by Mendelssohn’s wedding march, by Miss Florence Smith, of Lester, sister of groom, to which the bridal part3' descended the stairs and entered the front parlor, where ribbon was stretched on either side of their way, by Pauline* Jedries, of Osceola, and Vera Malone, of Nevada. May Culbertson was Mower girl and little Helen Meek, of St. Louis, ring bearer, followed by Miss Myrtle Dungan, bride’s maid, then the bride on the arm of her fath-i or, where they were met by the groom | and the bride given away. The groom I was attended bv Grin Smyth, brotherof bride. The bride looked charming ; in a white batiste dress, trimmed withvaleneienes lace and insertion, over white silk, and carried a bouquet of Lillies of the Valley. She is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smyth, and was raised in this city, graduating from the High School in die class of *1K She was also a graduate of Parson's College, in the class of ’02, and lias been a successful teacher in the schools of Osceola, and other places for several years. She is prominent in society circles, where she will be greatly missed by a large circle of associates. The groom is a stranger here, but 0 promising young man of Lester, la., where he holds a responsible position as telegraph operator. He is a young man of pleasant address and will no doubt do his part toward making a happy home. The bride’s maid wore white and pink organdie and carried pink carnalihns. The color scheme, pink and white, was carried out throughout the house, the altar being banked with white and pink roses and foliage. An elaborate four course dinner was served by the ladies of tiie Presbyterian church. The bride and groom left on the evening train for an extended trip through the west where they will visit all the important places .in Colorado, Utah and Washington, and will go as far as the coast, visiting many places of interest on their return. After a month’s absence they will be at home to their many friends at Lester, la. The Leader joins their many friends in wishing them a tranquil voyage through life, blessed with happiness and prosperity. The guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Gongwer, of Marion: L. B. Smyth, of Harvey: Miss Grace Hague, of Fairfield; Mrs. A. R. Malone, of Des Moines; Mrs. Derr, of Oreston: Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and daughter Florence, of Lester. Mrs. \V.lt; *. Jeffries and children, of Osceola: Vera Malone, of Nevada: Mrs. Zora Meek anti children, of St. Louis: and Miss Cleo Bryan, of St. Joseph, Mo.
