East Point was the scene of a novel•elopement on the 14tli inst. Mr. G. T. Batteree and Miss Noll’e Walker were the desperate lovers. Last March Batteree ran away with a younger sister of Miss Nellie, and married her greatly against the will of her parents. Fortunately she was only fourteen years of age, and her father had the marriage set aside, and with her consent carried her off to some distant relatives. Be had been visiting the elder sister before falling in love w ith the yonnger, and when he was thus deprived of his youthful bride, returned to his first love, and succeeded in marrying her in her parents* absence from home, evidently believing “one of the name was as good as the same.”
