Bartley and Randy Alan Schmidt spoke their marriage promises in Salem United Methodist Church.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shelton B. Bartley, Newton, and parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Schmidt, rural Newton.Rev. LeRoy Bott officiated at the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with twin candelabra entwined with greenery and accented with yellow daisies and blue carnations. The unity candle on the communion table, entwined with greenery, completed the setting. Mrs. John Bevan was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Mario Garcia, the wedding vocalists.Presented in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of bridal satin overlayed with Chantilly lace. The bodice accented with lace featured a lace stand-up collar and a wide ruffle of matching lace encircled the hemline which lengthened into a chapel length train. Her elbow length veil was edged in matching lace and she carried a bouquet of yellow daisies and blue carnations.Mrs. Harry Wolfe, Newton, attended her sister as matron of honor and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Michael Porter, also of Newton, and Miss Berniece Hearne, Hays. They wore princess styled gowns of blue crepe accented with yellow daisies. They wore matching blue picture hats and each carried long stemmed yellow daisies.Jeff Schmidt, Newton, served his brother as best man and the groomsmen were Gary Friesen, Hutchinson, cousin of the bridegroom, and Steve Miller, El Dorado. Guests were seated by Mike Bartley and David Schmidt, brothers of the bride and bridegroom.The reception was held in Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Robert SmithMr. and Mrs. Randy Alan Schmidtcake accented with yellow daisies. Crystal candelabra on each side of the cake and the bride’s bouquet completed the table decor.Those assisting with the serving were Miss Gayle McCarter, Mrs. Bruce Schmidt, Mrs. Roger Schmidt, Miss Paula Williams and Mrs. Ronald Schroeder.Following a wedding trip to Arkansas, the couple is now at home at 819 N. Ash in Newton.The couple were both graduated from Newton High School. The bride also attended Fort Hays State University and is employed in the Harvey County Treasurer’s office in Newton.
