Miss AltaGutherie was married to Glen Powell of Oskaloosa, and Miss Nellie Gutherie was married to Charles Baber of Hedrick. Tlie young ladies are sisters, and are daughters of Manuel W. and Joseph I in* Gutherie, who reside at the Stand Pipe cottage, No. U1S North D street. They are quite well known among an extended circle of acquaintances and have been much liked in a . social way. The fortunate young men j am cousins and each is engaged in farming and has been successful; Mr. and Mrs. Baker will reside near Hedrick, and Mr. and Mrs. PowbH win be at home at the Powell place-southeast of the city. The wedding was somewhat of a surprise to thb inapy friends of these most worthy I young xQOplo, They desired a quiet and simple wedding. devoid of the formality and excitement of a ceremony before many guests. They therefore took their parents and a coupy'of intimate friends into their couj|ehoe anil decided to have things ;MaJr -.own way; Accompanied by a couple of friends who were to act as aptnesses, they went to Ottumwa yesterday morning and the ceremony was accomplished in a quiet manner. After, a day in the town the young folks departed for their homes. Congratulations are extended by nmdy friends of the young people.
