ApproachingMarriage IsAnnouncedComing as a distinct surprise to all, Mrs. R. R. Alexander announced the approaching marriage of her daughter, Miss Mary Jane, to Mr. W. C. Ready of Dallas, Texas, at an entertainment last week.Friends were invited by Miss Mary Jane Alexander last Friday afternoon to her home to play bridge. The party was supposedly in honor of her sister, Mrs. C. W. Shropshire of Houston, Texas.Miss Mary Alexander and Mrs. Shropshire received their guests beautifully gowned, Mary in pink ! chiffon trimmed in applique flowers of blue, and pink kid slippers; her sister in pink eyelet embroidery and blue slippers. Josa Jean, little daughter of Mrs. Shropshire, dressed in dainty blue, passed the tallies.In full faith and confidence of the old adage, “Daisies Won’t Tell”, Miss Mary chose to decorate her home in pink and blue daisies daintly arranged in pink and blue vases. Her faith was well founded I for not a single guest seemed to 1 have the slighest suspicion of the secret in store.After five games of bridge, high score was won by Mrs. James McCall, which plrize was a lovelyhandpainted pink crystal vase. Mrs. i Noel Parsons was fortunate in receiving a box of stationery for cutprize.Those enjoying bridge were Mes-dames B. Flynt, Ora Lemmons, Ed-ger P. Daniels, Bill Billings, Emmett Williamson, James McCall, W. J. Stone, Lelia Crain, Roy Berry. Ernest Curlin. Hugh Carson, G. M. Utt, J. L. Stelzer, Frank Foster, G. P. W. Shropshire and Mrs. W. J. Stone, who served the guests with ice cream molded in pink daises with blue centers and pink individual cakes on pink crystal plates. Little Josa Jean placed on each plate a pair of tiny china slippers upon wich perched two gold doves. The j dove holding a card which read, “Mary-Walter, July 2, 1932.”.— -o -*Mrs. M. E.
