Therefore come along and aid in swelling the number for you will beweftbard' Wilson Rainey was born in Gibson county, Ind.. Nov. 9,1889, and on the 12th day of August, 1862, he volunteered in company E, 65th Indiana regiment and waft made a corporal in Capt. J. V. Admire’* company, where he served as a faithful Bolaier until the close of the Re hellion, being honorably discharged in June, 1885. With his regiment he participated in tbe following battles: Blounts-ville, Dalton, Resaca, Dallas, Kenasaw Mountain, siege of Atlanta, Franklin, Fort Anderson and Town Creek, in all of ! which he took an active part and proved himself a faithful, good and worthy soldier, and at the time of bis death, he was a member of G. A. R. Post of Lynnville, No. 178. He vraa married to Mary G. Rainey, Nov. 12, 1868, after her death he marned Nancy J5. Harbison, Oct. 12,1885, who survives him. For a number of years lie was a fuitbful member of the M. E. Church, gftj^, honest and upright in all bis ways and dealings. He died at his home in 'Lynnville, June 17, 1894, after long affliction of a disease that was contracted by hard toil and exposure whilst in tlieservice of his country. His comrades of the post bore his remains to their last resting place to the grave and consigned the body to the tomb, using tbe beautiful burial ritual of that order. How swiftly those brave boys are answering to the roll call of the majesty on high and ere'many winters vpass they will .be safejy landed in that Haven of rest where they will learn . war no’ more. Whitt a debt of love and gratitude and honor this country and government of ours owe to those brave boys. But how are they cared fur? Are they Dot neglected. yea, to long have they been suffered to toil on through pain and hardships to maintain a living when this free and independent government, with all its wealth has for the past thirty years not made that ample provision for them R should done. Brother Rainey is gone, his toils and pains are all ended and we feel his frail bark is safely landed in the Paradise of God on high. He leaves a wife, one Bon, several brothers and sisteis to mourn with a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Houpt of the ; M. E. Church at the residence of the deceased.SEL.VIN.
