Rita McCartan and Harlan Nelson WedHAVELOCK — Nuptial vows, uniting in marriage Miss Rita McCartan and Harlan Nelson, both of Sioux City, were repeated at 10:30 a,m. Thursday, June 16, at the Sacred Heart Church in Pocahontas. The Rev. H. B. Karhoff officiated at the double ring ceremony which took place before an altar decorated with pink and white peonies.The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McCartan of Havelock and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Eddie R. Nelson of Sioux City.Eileen O’Brien played the ' Rossini wedding march.The bride wore a waltz length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin with fitted bodice and portrait neckline. Her fingertip veil was attached to a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of pink roses centered with a white orchid. Her father gave her in marriage.BridesmaidMiss Mary McCartan, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a waltz length dress of nile green nylon dotted swiss with matching picture hat. She carried a basket of pink roses and stephanotis.Joe Hurley of Sioux City, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were Don and Gene McCartan, brothers of the bride.For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. McCartan chose a rose linen and lace dress with white accessories. Both mother# had corsages of pink carnations.Reception HeldAfter the ceremony a reception for approximately 100 guests was held in Holy Name hall. After the reception the couple left for Florida on a wedding trip and will be at home after July 1 at the Carroll Apartments in Sioux City.Waitresses at the reception were Mary Cunningham of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Robert Lehr, Mrs. Arnold White and Carol Kuker of Havelock; and Mary Lou Bartosh and Jean Ann Wilson of Pocahontas. Mrs. Gene McCartan of Pocahontas was in charge of the guest hook, Mrs. Don McCartan of Fonda and Mrs. Jerry Cole and. Mrs. Robert Lathrop of Havelock presided at the gift table and Mr. and Mrs, Paul J. Crot-ty served as dining room host and hostess.Mrs. Nelson graduated from Havelock High School in 1951 and is now employed as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital In Sioux City. Mr. Nelson graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1950 and is now a student at Morn-ingside College in Sioux City.Guests who attended the wedding were from Pocahontas, Laurens, Mallard, Sioux 4 City, Fort Dodge, Fonda, Clare and Redwood Falls, Minn.Not one person survived the Custer Massacre of June 25, lfT6.
