WINSLOW MANMARRIED INWASHINGTON|| WINSLOW, June 20. — An-nouncement has been made ofithe marriage of Miss GeraldineRhodes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Merrill R. Rhodes of Leavenworth, Kan., and Gene Fred McConnell of Paterson, New Jersey,son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred McConnell of Winslow.The ceremony was performedat the Metropolitan MemorialMethodist church, Washington,D. C., at 8:45 Sunday morning,June 7.The Rev. Edward GardinerLatch, pastor of the church, officiated, using the double ringceremony. Following the playing of Gounod’s “Ave Maria” bythe organist, Mrs. James SMontgomery, wife of the chaplain of the house of representatives,]]and to the strains of the Wedding lt;March from Lohengrin, the bride ,walked down the aisle of the hbeautiful church, preceded by her 1matron of honor, Mrs. Herbert A. ]McConnell, sister-in-law of thebridegroom.The bride wore a dress of beigecrepe with accessories of wheat Ulinen. Her corsage was of Talisman roses and she wore a lovelystrand of pearls, a gift from the | ^ bridegroom.The matron of honor wore ahdress of light blue crepe, beigeaccessories and a corsage of pinkhroses.The wedding vows were exchanged, with a background ofsoft organ music, before the altarbeautifully decorated with liliesand lighted tapers.The bridegroom’s best man washis brother, Herbert A. McConnell.Immediately following theceremony the couple left for NewYork and thence to Paterson,where Mr. McConnell is employed in the experimental testlaboratory of the Wright Aeronautical Corporation.The bride was graduated fromLeavenworth high school in 1939and has just completed her junior year at Baker universityBaldwin City, Kan., where she ismajoring in music education. Shehas been a member of the choirand orchestra for three yearsDuring her freshman year shewas initiated into Alpha ChiOmega social sorority and is nowtreasurer of the Omicron chapterat Baker.Mr. McConnell was graduated,cum laude, from Rose Poly, Terre Haute. He is a member ofTau Beta Pi, national honoraryengineering fraternity. He was amember of the debate team forfour years and during his senioryear was associate editor of theRose Technic.Among the guests at the wedding were Miss Marjorie McCullough, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Har-ridon, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Dot-tery, Mrs. Maude Moats, Mr. andVIrs. John Moats of Washington,D. C., Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Cope-and of Virginia, and Miss HelenVIcConnell of Winslow.
