Lane, in a suit for dlvrce which she has begun against her husband, William Lane. « .The petition in the case was filed late Saturday afternoon by John A. Hears, attorney for the'plaintiff, who is assisted in the prosecution by Gourtright Arfruekle.It relates the fact of the marriage of the couple in Waterloo, June 21, 1882, and says they lived together as husband and wife until the 14th day of June, 1900.The plaintiff alleges that during 1896 the defendant began to manifest toward her a very cruel and vicious disposition, It is alleged that on the 15th day of June of that year the defendant committed a violent assault on the plaintiff, kicking- her three or four times, . inflicting injury that left its mark on her for many days, and that he used language of vile and profane character towards her.It is alleged that actions of this character have been numerous during tnei^f1D intervening years',-and that they cul-! minated on the 14th of the present! month, when the defendant became enraged, jumped from his seat at the [ table and threatened to “knock the ’ plaintiff’s head off,” also that he tried tc- carry out his threat.The plaintiff is sixty years of age;?’ f and impaired in health.
