Thursday, June 18, 1959 TheSPODEN-JACOBY VOWS GIVENWedding' vows were exchanged Saturday, June IS at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception church, when Rev. Thomas Purtell performed a single ring cere mony for Martha Spodsn, daughter of Mick Spoden of Alta Vista, and James B. Jacoby, 3on of Mr, and Mrs. Merle Jacoby, of Elma.,The church was decorated with baskets of daisies ard gladioli. Mrs. Herman Lammers played the nuptial music and accompanied the wedding hymns, sang by Gerald, Marjory and Nick Gansen.The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She was attired in a floor gown of G h a n i 11 y laee, fashioned with a salrina neckline and long sleeves. The lace kerchief style peplum swept down bouffant ruffled tulle skirts over satin, the fingertip veil of illusion silk fell from a crown of tulle leaf design outlined in seed pearls. She carried a colonial 'bouquet of red roses and streamers.Kathleen Jacoby, sister of the groom, was the maid of honor, dressed in a waltz length gown of velvetery sheer, over taffeta,in lilac color with lilac taffeta cum-berbund. She wore matching shoes and 'headdress completing the ensemble. Her bouquet was of shaded pink carnations. Zina Morzen, of Stacyville, was the bridesmaid. She wore a gown identical to the maid of honor, in ice blue with matching shoes and headdress, and carried a bouquet of blue carnations.Richard Jacoby was the best man, and Wayne Jacoby was the grooms other attendant. They are both brothers of the groom, and were attired in dark pants and white jackets. Jerome Jacoby, cousin of the groom, served as usher.The dinner and receptionvms held at the Memorial Hall, in Elma, with 125 guests attending the dinner and 200 for the reception.Decorations wore in the brides chosen colors of ice blue, lilac and white. The centerpiece was a four tiered cake, pictured with the bride and groom, 'baked and decorated by Mrs. Albert Lauck. Twenty six pounds of powdered sugar wont to decorate this beautiful cake.The dinner was served by the grooms mother's friends, while cousins of the groom presided at the reception.Guests came from Osage, New Haven. Minneapolis, Spring Valley, Stacyville, Milwaukee, New Hampton, Chicaco, Waterloo, Cresco, Alta Vista and Elma.The bride is a graduate of Stacyville High School, class of 1959, The groom attended the Immaculate Conception Academy, in Elma, and is now employed by Lauck ann Ludwig, of Elma.
