Lt. Col. JohnsonOf Roff Assigned To Canal Zone PostLt, Colonel Charles W, Johnson, United States Air Force* of Roff, has been assigned to the Caribbean Air Command, Albrook Air Force Base, Canal Zone, as Missions Coordihator, He replaces Colonel Calixto C. Valle who was recently assigned to Washington, D. C.y as a member of the Inter American Defense Board,In his new position. ColonelJohnson will supervise and coordinate the activities of the United States Air Force Missions to 14 Latin American countries under the direction of the Caribbean Air Command.After attending Oklahoma A. M. College, Colonel Johnson entered Aviation Cadet Training in 1941, completing primary, basic and advanced training in December of that year. During World War II he served in New Guinea, the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan flying 113 combat missions in A-20 and 3-25 aircraft,Coming from a military minded family, his father served in the field artillery during the war, two brothers were in the Navy, one brother in the Coast Guard and a fourth brother was assigned to the Air Force.Returning to the United States in November, 1945, Colonel Johnson successively served as executive officer of the Northern New York Recruiting District and as staff officer of the Latin American Missions Branch, Headquarters. -United States Air Force, Washington, D.
