Prenuptial Parties For Miss Beverly Ward Miss Beverly Ward, who will become the bride of Timothy Johnson of Ogden June 17, has been honored at several recent showers. Mrs. James Ward, Mrs. Larry Walters and Mrs. Glen Lee, sis ter-in-law and sisters of the bride elect, honored her at a miscellaneous shower May 1] at the home of Mrs. Walters at 1808 14th. The evening was spent visiting and taking part in games in which prizes were awarded the winners. Among the guests were Mrs. John Ward and Mrs. Paul M. Johnson, Ogden, mothers of the couple, Mrs. Ray Brown, grand mother of the bride, and Mrs. Lottie Johnson, Ogden, grand mother of the bridegroom. The bride-elect was assisted in open ing her gifts by Mrs. Glen Lee. The gifts were arranged on a table centered with a bride doll which held the bows from the gifts. The guests enjoyed a des sert luncheon which featured in dividual cakes in the bride’s chosen colors of gold and white. Thursday, June 2, the bride elect was entertained at the Don ald Thrap home with Misses Sandy Thrap and Carol Gibbs hostesses for a personal shower. The guests were school friends of the honoree. After she opened her gifts the evening was spent visiting and refreshments were served. Saturday evening, June 4, a bridal shower was held at the home of Mrs. R. A. Scott in Og den, with Mrs. Carl F. Cook co hostess. The program consisted of three readings—‘‘What is a wife?”, given by Mrs. Scott, “What is a Farmer?”, by Jodi Sue Lingren and an appropriate “Prelude” to the gift opening by Mrs. Joan Lingren. The gift table was centered with a large bride doll, and a small bridal couple was on the fireplace mantel. The honoree was assisted in opening her gifts by Mrs. Joan Lingren and Mrs. Pat Cook. The ribbons were placed in a doll, with a large net and ribbon skirt made by Mrs. Lottie Johnson. A lunch was served by the hostesses. Among the guests were Mrs. John Ward and Mrs. Paul M. Johnson, mothers of the couple, and Mrs. Lottie Johnson, grandmother of the bridegroom, “Open House” Sunday For Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson “Open House’’ will be held Sunday afternoon, June 19th, from 2 to 5 o’clock at the Pilot Mound Methodist Church honor ing Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson, Pilot Mound, in observance of their fortieth wedding annivers ary. Hosts for the celebration will be their family, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailey, Redfield, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson, Randall, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Pilot Mound. All relatives and friends are invited. Prenuptial parties have been given during the past few weeks honoring Helen Smalley Cooper, whose marriage to William A. Wood will be solemnized Satur day, June 18th, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon in the First Bap tist Church, Sunday afternoon, May 22nd, Mrs. Paul Koppen haver entertained a large group of relatives at a social after noon at her home, 523 Jeffer son street, honoring the bride elect. The afternoon was enjoyed with visiting and games in which prizes were awarded to the win ners. The guests held a miscel laneous shower for the honoree, the gifts being arranged on a table covered with a white cloth and centered with a yellow um brella decorated with silver bells and wreathed at the base with flowers. The honoree was assisted in opening the gifts by her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Ray, and granddaughter, Miss Diane Ray. Refreshments were served tray style, the chosen nuptial colors of yellow and white be ing featured in the appoint ments. Guests attended from Des Moines and the Boone area. Sunday afternoon, June 5th, Mrs. Gene Chadwick of Webster City, Mrs. John Chadwick and Mrs. Paul Koppenhaver enter tained a large group of friends at the Koppenhaver home. The afternoon was spent visiting and with games, with prizes for the winners. A miscellaneous shower was held, the gifts being arranged on a table centered with a doll bride carrying a miniature bou quet, on a base of styrofoam wreathed with yellow lillies. A large white bell floated from the ceiling light fixture, showering yellow and white streamers over the table. The bride-elect was assisted in opening the gifts by Mrs. Ray and Diane, and Miss Jene Chadwick, daughter of the Gene Chadwicks. A tray style lunch was serv ed, featuring the yellow and white color note. Garden flowers were used in decoration about the home for the party. Non-Resident Guests Honored at Dinner Mrs. Rose McCoy, 522 llth street, and Mrs. Lydia Krug, 524 llth, entertained at a dinner Monday evening, June 13th, at Mrs. McCoy’s home, in honor of relatives from Colorado and Florida, who have been visiting relatives and friends in Boone. The non-resident guests of hon or were Mr. and Mrs. Reinold Brinkman and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Strasbaugh and daughter, Cindy, of Denver, Colorado, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Crane of Fort Pierce, Florida. The other dinner guests were from the Boone vicinity. Covers were set at tables arranged about the home, bouquets of colorful garden flowers being used in decoration. Following the 6:30 dinner, the evening was enjoyed visiting and taking pic tures. “Open House” June 19 For Harold Malcolms Mr. and Mrs. Harold Malcolm, Route 1, Ogden, will observe their twenty-fifth wedding anni versary Sunday, June 19, at “Open House” at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden from 1:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon.
