Church—Personal Mention.IA very beautiful wedding was solem-— Inized at the Denton Methodist Protestant Church last Tuesday evening— | when Miss Maggie'K. Pursell became . .the bride of Mr. Howard M. Harris, a 11 prominent young business man of r I Preston. The church was a bower ofgreen foliage and pink roses. Love songs were beautifully sung by Miss [^J Julia Wilson, with Miss Margaret Beckat the piano, as a prelude to the wedding music, and in the glow of the sunset and the soft light of many enn-, Idles, the bride entered with her uncle, Mr. William J. Irwin, who gave her iJin marriage. She was preceded by|lt; 1 the ushers, her maids, flower-girls and E the matron-of-honor, Mrs. William J. ,l| Irwin, and was met at the altar bye the groom, attended by his best man,e|AIr. Roland Handy, of Federalsburg.The Rev. J. W. Kirk, D. D., pastor of the church, performed the ceremony, using the ring service. The bride was attired in white satin, with veil of tullocaught with orange blossoms, and carried a bunch of bride’s roses showered with lilies-of-the-valley. The matron-of-honor wore lavender and her bouquet was of yellow roses. The bride's maids— Misses Pauline Roe,. Martha Beck, of Denton; Miss Mabel Briggs, of Williamsburg, Va., and Miss Eliza-1 tl•t£J\lt;rIfvcoaebetli Pursell, the bride’s sister, of Wakefield, Va.—wore frocks of pink and blue and carried pink roses. The little flower girls, Mary Woodrow, ofDenton, and Marion Maul, of Roanoke, Va., were dressed all in white. The ushers were: Douglas Fooks, Johnson Bonner, Theodore and Herman Schmick, of Preston, After a reception at the home of Mr. and Airs. Wm. J. Irwin, following the ceremony and including a surprise serenade by the Denton firemen’s band, Air. and Mrs. Harris started on a Southern motor trip. The gathering of many friends from a distance as well as from the county and the many beautiful weddingagifts bespoke the popularity of the young couple. Airs. Harris is a daughter of Mrs. Annie Pursell and the late D, P. Pursell, of Wakefield, Va., andfor the past three years has lived inmDenton, being an assistant in the office of the clerk of Caroline county. Mr. Harris is a son of Mr. J. P. Harris, of Preston, and is an alumnus of Delaware University. Besides relatives and friends from the county, the guests at the wedding included a number from a distance, besides those in the bridal party: Airs.
