His Majesty having readily given hi* consent, a* likewise the Queen Dowager and reigning Queen, his Excellency had the honour of being presented to the future Empress, whom he addressed in a neat and appropriate speech, soliciting her hand in the name and on behalf of his Imperial Majesty Don Pedro the Second. The Princes* was pleased to reply in d most gracious manner, yielding to the request of the Ambassador and to the wishes of the Emperor. The Princess will, therefore, shortly embark on board the squadron, and the most happy results are looked forward to from this auspicious union, so well calculated to promote the felicity of all parties concerned.
